AI Disclaimer
Last updated 29 October 2026Fluento is built on artificial intelligence. This page says plainly what that means for you, what the app can and cannot tell you, and where its limits are. It forms part of our Terms of Use.
In one line. Fluento's coach, corrections, scores and reports are generated by AI language and speech models. They are useful for practice. They are not authoritative, not a qualification, and not a substitute for a qualified human.
What is AI-generated
Almost everything you read and hear in Fluento that responds to you:
- Coach replies in conversations and roleplays, including the coach's persona and voice;
- Corrections to your sentences, and the explanations of why something was wrong;
- Session reports after a conversation or roleplay, and English Mirror fluency reports;
- Pronunciation scores, which come from automated speech assessment;
- Transcripts of what you said, produced by speech-to-text;
- Your estimated level from the assessment;
- Grammar explanations and translated explanations in your first language.
What is not AI-generated: the fixed lesson content, roleplay scenarios, word lists, listening question sets and the app's own text, which we wrote.
What can go wrong
- It can be confidently wrong. Language models produce fluent text regardless of whether it is correct. A grammar explanation can be mistaken, and a correction can "fix" something that was already right.
- It can mishear you. Speech-to-text makes mistakes, particularly with names, numbers, accents, code-switching between English and another language, and in noisy rooms. Everything downstream of a bad transcript inherits the error.
- Scores are estimates. Pronunciation, fluency, filler counts and words-per-minute are automated measurements of one recording. The same sentence recorded twice can score differently.
- It does not know you. The coach has your profile and the current conversation, not your life. It is not remembering a previous session in detail.
- It can be out of date. Models are trained on data with a cut-off and may not reflect current facts or events.
- Translations can lose nuance, particularly in the explanation languages.
- It can be inconsistent. Ask the same thing twice and you may get two different answers.
Your level is not a certificate
Fluento's assessment estimates a CEFR band (A1–C1) so the app can pitch practice at roughly the right difficulty. Read it as a starting point, nothing more.
- It is not an official CEFR certification, and we are not an accredited examination body.
- It is not IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, the Duolingo English Test, or any Cambridge English exam, and it does not predict a score in any of them.
- It carries no weight with employers, universities, colleges, visa or immigration authorities, or professional bodies. Do not submit it as evidence of your English.
- If you need a recognised qualification, sit a recognised exam.
What Fluento does not advise on
Fluento is a language-practice tool. Its output is not educational guidance, career advice, interview coaching you should rely on for a real hiring decision, immigration advice, legal advice, medical advice or financial advice — whatever you ask it and however the reply is phrased. Roleplay scenarios such as a salary negotiation or a bank call are speaking practice with a simulated character, not advice about your real salary or your real bank.
Please do not put sensitive information into it
What you say and type is sent to third-party AI and speech providers to be processed (see the Privacy Policy). Practise with ordinary material. Do not read out passwords, OTPs, card or bank account numbers, government ID numbers, medical details, or other people's personal information.
How to use it well
- Treat corrections as a prompt to check, not a verdict — especially when one contradicts what you were taught.
- Read the transcript. If it misheard you, the feedback is about a sentence you did not say.
- Watch the trend across sessions rather than any single score.
- Use a human — a teacher, a colleague, a friend who speaks well — for anything that matters.
Reporting bad output
If the coach says something wrong, offensive or harmful, send it to support@fluento.cc with what you asked and what it replied. That is the fastest way we fix prompts and guardrails.
No guarantee of results
We make no promise that using Fluento will improve your English by any amount, in any time, or help you pass any exam or get any job. Progress depends on you.
